Administrative Committees
Church Administrative and Service Committees
There are a number of ways to support and serve the church through participation and service on church boards and committees. Contact Ron Dunn, 837-5243 to find out more about these service opportunities. Ron Dunn serves as chair of the Lay Leadership Committee.
Administrative Board
The “governing board” of the church, this board facilitates long and short range planning and goal setting and establishes policies and priorities. Members vote on proposals brought forth by other committees and approve the annual operating
budget.

Adult Ministries
Develops programs and classes to support adult spiritual growth and education. Includes adult Bible study, Sunday School, and fellowship.

Board of Trustees
Responsible for all supervision and oversight and care for all real property of the church. This is a very “hands on” committee. Volunteers are welcome to help with grounds maintenance and repairs.

Care of Church Grounds
Assist with the maintenance of the church grounds. Includes mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, watering, etc. Volunteer as available.

Child Care Help
Child care volunteers help out during Sunday morning worship hours, small group
meetings, and special events. Opportunities also available for paid staff.

Children’s Ministry Committee
Works with the Youth and Children’s Director to support and guide the Children’s program.

Children’s Sunday School Teachers
Serve as part of a rotating team for the preschool class, or lead a 4- to 6-week Rotation Sunday School class in an area of your interest, such as art, cooking, or games.

Coffee Hour Host/Hostess
Team members assist with the set-up and serving of refreshments following church services. Provide a friendly face to visitors, and new and long-time members. Volunteers serve after a single church service once every 3-4 months.

Committee on Lay Leadership
This committee gets to know the congregation, learns their gifts and interests, and finds the best candidates for leadership positions within the church.

Communications Group
This group provides oversight and direction for all communications (both internal and external) that take place within the life of our Church. Special areas of focus include: the Messenger (newsletter), Mini-Messenger (bulletin), Web site, and communication through local media (newspaper, radio, television).
Endowment Fund Committee
Develops and administers the endowment fund for SRVUMC.

Finance Committee
Responsible for the financial planning and for funding the ministry of the church, and develops the church budget.

The Martin Luther King Peacemakers
A group committed to working for peace, reports to Church and Society. Meets bi-monthly on the 2nd & 4th Mondays, at 1 P.M. in the library. All are welcome.

Memorials and Gifts Committee
Manages special gifts to the church and sees that the wishes of the donor are honored.

Missions Council
The Mission Council is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and sponsorship of our Mission Program. Please see Opportunities in Mission.

Office Volunteers
Assist church staff with general office duties weekly or during times of heavy workload or when a staff member is absent. Please let the office staff know of your interest in this vital area to our church life.

Preschool Commission
A committee of church members or constituents administers the United Methodist Preschool, a community outreach of the church. This group meets monthly to make decisions regarding the staff, program, and budget of the Monday—Friday program.

Staff-Parish Relations Committee
This committee acts as a Human Resources committee for the church, functioning as a liaison between the congregation and the pastors/staff of the church. Helps them to achieve goals, evaluating their progress and effectiveness, and sharing ideas.

Ushers
Greet and seat worshippers, help collect offering.

Welcome Team
The Welcome Team coordinates our efforts to invite, welcome, integrate, and send people into service ministry. This includes calling visitors, coffee hour hospitality, Sunday morning greeters, Discovery (new member) Classes, and communications in various forms.

Worship Service Greeters
Welcome new and returning members, answer questions, and give directions as needed.

Youth Ministries
Works with the Youth and Children’s Director to support and guide the youth program. This committee is made up of youth and adults.
