Philosophy:
The United Methodist Preschool believes in providing a safe, friendly, and developmentally-appropriate environment to promote the growth of each child—socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. A carefully planned program exposes our children to materials and experiences that nourish development.
Close parent-teacher contact supports the individual needs of each child and parent. We offer parent-teacher conferences twice a year and kindergarten readiness evaluation in addition.
Our program includes Christian songs and visits from our United Methodist pastors, but we welcome families of every religious background to attend. Parents often choose Methodist Preschool for its small class size and its home-like setting, as well as for its curriculum that prepares children for success in kindergarten.
Program:
We offer a developmental program for children 2 years 9 months (by September 1st) through 5+ years.
Children begin their day with 50 minutes of small-group time, where children are grouped by age. This group time is for calendar, stories, singing, sharing, games, and other age-appropriate activities.
After small-group time, the small groups combine and have free choice between indoor and outdoor interest centers. This is when the children participate in cross-age grouping for activities, such as art, nutritious snacks, and indoor and outdoor creative play.
There is an optional Lunch Bunch program, 11:45-12:30 daily for a small additional fee.
All classes introduce readiness for kindergarten, with more academic activities for the older children.
Registration:
Parents are encouraged to observe the program prior to registering their child. A one-time, non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of registration.
