Administrative Committees


Church Administrative and Service Positions

There are a number of ways to support and serve the church through participation and service on church boards and committees.  Contact Ron Dunn or Alison Berry (837-5243) to find out more about these service opportunities.  

Administrative Board  The “governing board” of the church.  This board facilitates long and short range planning and goal setting and establishes policies and priorities.  They vote on proposals brought forth by other committees and approve the annual operating budget.

Vice Chairperson:  To be named 

Board of Trustees  Responsible for all supervision and oversight and care for all real property of the church. A very “hands on” committee.

Chairperson:  Rudy Ceragioli    

Finance Committee  Responsible for the financial planning and for funding the ministry of the church.  Responsible for the development of the church budget.

Chairperson:  Brad Tolstedt  

Endowment Fund Committee  Develops and administers the endowment fund for SRVUMC.

Chairperson:  Fred Toney      

Memorials and Gifts Committee  Manages special gifts to the church and sees that the wishes of the donor are honored.

Staff-Parish Relations Committee
 
Acts as a “Human Resource” committee for the church.  Functions as a liaison between the congregation and the pastors/staff of the church.  Helps them to achieve goals, evaluating their progress and effectiveness, and sharing ideas.

Committee on Lay Leadership  This committee gets to know the congregation, learns their gifts and interests, and finds the best candidates for leadership positions within the church.

Adult Ministries  Develops programs and classes to support adult spiritual growth and education.  Includes adult Bible study, Sunday School, and fellowship.

Youth Ministries
 
Develops programs and classes to support youth spiritual growth and education.  Includes Sunday School, fellowship opportunities and summer programs.

Worship Commission 
Provides support for the logistics and liturgical elements of the worship service and maintenance of the sanctuary.

Missions Council  The Mission Council is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and sponsorship of our Mission Program.  Please see Opportunities in Mission)

Welcome Team  The Welcome Team coordinates our efforts to invite, welcome, integrate, and send people into service/ministry.  This includes calling visitors, coffee hour hospitality, Sunday morning greeters, Discovery new member classes, and communications in various forms.

Other Service Opportunities in Support of the Church
 

Sunday School Teachers  We need adults to help share our ministry with the young ones of our church family.  Serve as part of a rotating team for the Preschool Class, teaching on the same Sunday of each month, or lead a 4 to 6 week rotation in an area of your interest such as art, cooking, games.

Child Care Coordinators

Caring for our youngest children is a very important MINISTRY of our church.  Child care volunteers are needed on a regular and occasional basis for Sunday morning worship hours, small groups attended by mothers and couples with young children, and occasional special meetings, events or worship experiences.  Child care opportunities are also available for paid staff.

Ushers  Greet and seat worshippers, and help collect offering

Coffee Hour Host/Hostess Work as a team member to assist with the setup and serving of refreshments following church services.  Provide a friendly face to visitors, and new and long-time members.  Volunteers serve after a single church service once every 3-4 months.

Worship Service Greeters
 
Welcome new and returning members, answer questions and give directions as needed.

Office Volunteers Assist church staff with general office duties during times of heavy workload or when a staff member is absent.

are of Church Grounds  Assist with the maintenance of the church grounds.  Includes mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, watering, etc.  Volunteer as available.
